Question: I know a bit about macros. Can I create my own style sheet or at least optimize the one from my publisher? This might be relevant for creating tables, for example.

Answer: Please don't. The typesetters working with the publisher only get paid for work created using the original style sheet. Don't interfere with that mechanism, it might be to your financial disadvantage.

The same applies to graphics and illustrations within your manuscript. Every publisher has his own way of handling these. Try to clarify which format the publisher prefers before you start using the style sheet.
