Question: Do I have to take the deadline for sending in my manuscript to the publisher seriously?

Answer: Please do. The working processes of the editorial department are planned in great detail in accordance with your deadline. That deadline is even more important for the marketing and sales departments and the shipping date.

Marketing has already booked its campaigns and ads to launch the book. Sales will have collected advance orders on your book.

The warehouse staff has booked a shipping date for retail.

If any of these deadlines are not met, you can expect clients to cancel their orders - and you will get less royalties.
